Clarke invests in Montreal tower
Clarke Inc. yesterday announced it has entered into a joint venture with two other co-investors to acquire a one-third interest in a real estate development project in downtown Montreal that is currently under construction. The building is located at 1111 Atwater Ave., the former site of the Montreal Children’s Hospital. The project involves a 38-storey building that will include seniors’ housing and luxury condominiums.
Vandal to discuss building the North
The federal Minister of Northern Affairs Daniel Vandal has scheduled a Zoom address to highlight the recent budget’s measures to fight COVID-19 and “build back better in the North” this afternoon. The event will take place at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
Posein takes new post at Ledcor
Ledcor yesterday announced that Dale Posein, its COO of constructors, has been appointed the head of its pipeline and industrial construction groups, plus its Fort McMurray, Alta. operations unit. Posein’s previous role was COO of pipeline, responsible for operations, project management, project leadership and project execution for all pipeline contracts. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association Foundation.
Canada joins net–zero oil and gas coalition
Federal Minister of Natural Resources Seamus O’Regan today announced Canada will join the United States in establishing a new Net-Zero Producers Forum, a platform for oil and gas–producing countries to discuss how the sector can support the implementation of the Paris Agreement on climate change and the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Other producers involved include Norway, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, with the group collectively representing 40 per cent of global oil and gas production. The forum will discuss ways to improve methane abatement, advance the circular carbon economy approach, and develop clean-energy and carbon capture use and storage technologies, among other strategies.
