Construction to resume as part of Step One
Construction stakeholders in Ontario will be permitted to resume full activities Friday as the province moves into Step One of its Roadmap to Reopen plan. The provincial government announced Monday that Step One will officially be launched at 12:01 a.m. on Friday and confirmed the new status of construction.
Gordie Howe Bridge CBA announcement cancelled
The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority and Bridging North America have cancelled today’s announcement regarding the community benefits plan for the Gordie Howe International Bridge that is currently under construction between Windsor and Detroit. The move was said to be “out of respect for the Muslim community and the residents of the City of London, following the horrifying incident that resulted in the targeted death of four family members and the serious injury to the youngest child.”
McKenna to announce Healthy Communities funding
Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Catherine McKenna has scheduled an announcement for noon EDT today regarding funding to be allocated through the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative, with a focus on Quebec. Watch for Daily Commercial News coverage following the presentation.
New rec centre for Parry Sound
The federal government yesterday announced $12.7 million for the construction of a new recreation facility in the town of Parry Sound, Ont. The Government of Ontario is contributing $10.6 million and the seven municipalities in the West Parry Sound area are jointly contributing $8.5 million. The facility will feature a 25-metre lap pool, gym, fitness and conditioning centre and studio, indoor walking track and space for Indigenous programming.
