DIALOG merges with NXL Architects

TORONTO — Canadian architectural firm DIALOG has announced its merger with NXL Architects.

A release from DIALOG calls NXL a Canadian leader in the planning and design of laboratories and complex-process facilities for science, technology and clean industry.

“DIALOG and NXL share a culture that is genuinely collegial and collaborative,” said Jim Anderson, DIALOG partner and chair, in a statement. “Together, we bring an exceptional depth of experience and creative ingenuity to 21st century workplaces that contribute to the well-being of our communities and the sustainability of our environment.”

Both firms have been active in the science and technology sector recently.

DIALOG has underway or recently completed the National Institute for Nanotechnology at the University of Alberta, research laboratories at the Calgary Cancer Centre, and a nationwide renewal of Laboratories Canada facilities.

In addition to major research laboratories for the University of Toronto, York University, Ryerson University, Carleton University, UBC and the University Health Network, NXL has completed more than four million square feet of complex-process facilities for companies such as Novopharm (now Teva) Pharmaceuticals, Eurofins CDMO Alphora, Therapure BioPharma, EmpowerPharm, and Septodont Canada.

“By joining forces, we can deliver projects for our clients at a larger scale and complexity and across a broader geographic reach,” said Jay Levine, NXL founding principal who joins DIALOG as a partner and science and technology sector lead. “We want to help grow a Canadian science and technology ecosystem by bringing together public institutions, private enterprise and the development community.”
