Priestly Demolition acquires Jones Group to expand and grow

Two leaders in the demolition world, Priestly Demolition Inc. (PDI) and Jones Group, are coming together to work on larger projects and expand operations across Canada and the United States.

PDI announced the majority acquisition of Jones Group Ltd. April 4.

“Combining the experience of both businesses will help both businesses grow,” Guy Chartrand, vice-president business operations with Priestly Demolition Inc., told the Daily Commercial News.

“What Jones is going to bring to PDI is a little wider industrial contact list. It will open our horizon a little bit on our market share and give us a place near the border of the U.S. to be able to house equipment.”

The deal has been in the works for about a year.

“Terry (Jones, president, Jones Group) and Ryan (Priestly) have been working together for quite some time,” said Chartrand. “I think the timing was right.”

The Jones Group, based in Windsor, Ont., specializes in demolition, abatement, remediation, investment recovery, recovered equipment sales, excavating, sheering, environmental clean-up and certified asbestos abatement.

“We look forward to close co-operation with Terry and his team as we expand our operations to facilitate bigger demolition, abatement and remediation projects than we’ve ever done before,” said Ryan Priestly, president of PDI, in a statement.

Priestly has done work south of the border but this acquisition “will certainly enhance that,” Chartrand said.

The Jones Group facilities and employees will also remain in place.

“We will be adding our PDI systems to the Jones Group business, our estimating software, our tracking software and all that stuff will be handled through the PDI mainframe,” said Chartrand.

“Every employee will remain in place and they’re going to help enhance our team. The Jones Group has highly skilled operators. It will really complement our business to add their team to our team.”

Members of the PDI team are currently onsite in Windsor to assist with the transition and integration of the companies.
