Luis vidal + architects appoints new managing principal for North America
LUIS VIDAL + ARCHITECTS — Luis vidal + architects announced it has appointed Jim Henry as executive vice-president and managing principal for North America.

DALLAS — Luis vidal + architects recently announced it has appointed Jim Henry as executive vice-president and managing principal for North America.

Henry will lead the firm’s North American practice across all its verticals and oversee design and business development activities for the region, a release stated.

“With his extensive experience in design and leadership, as well as an award-winning career that reveals a passion for improving health infrastructure and living conditions, I am confident he will be an invaluable member of our firm. luis vidal + architects has an exceptional reputation in health care design that has seen us grow in numerous countries. One of Jim’s missions will be to build on that reputation in the United States and continue to be unstoppable in innovation,” luis vidal + architects president and founding partner Luis Vidal said in a statement.

Henry will focus on making Dallas a major centre of operations for the firm, where previously it designed the Terminal D expansion of the DFW Airport, in addition to working with its current Miami office.

“I’m thrilled to join luis vidal + architects, a global firm that is at the forefront of innovation and design in architecture and human experiences. Luis has been a friend and mentor of mine for many years, and I am excited to be part of this creative practice. I look forward to working with Luis and the talented team in North America and around the world to create inspired design solutions that optimize quality of life and improve the world around us,” Henry said.

Henry was previously senior vice-president and global director of health and well-being at CallisonRTKL and held roles at the design firm HDR, including as vice-president of the U.S. Western Region leader for health and global design director of health.

He has also won awards for design work and leadership including the AIA National Young Architect’s Award and the Building Design + Construction “40 Under 40” Awards.

Previous luis vidal + architects projects include Heathrow’s Terminal 2 and several international airports in major U.S. cities, including Pittsburgh, Boston, Dallas and Denver. The firm’s U.S. practice will continue to focus on mobility, bio-innovation, community and commercial sectors in addition transportation and health care, the release said.
