TORONTO — iQ Offices, Canada’s largest independent Canadian-owned co-working operator, will open its newest location in one of Toronto’s heritage buildings at King and Bay streets.
Located at 302 Bay St., King of Bay is a 14-storey landmark in the city’s financial district.
The office building originally opened in 1917 and secured its heritage designation in 1976. To this day, the building is revered for its exemplary “temple” style architecture, Art Deco motifs and majestic ground floor reception, indicates a release.
The renovation efforts, which are currently underway, fuses technology and functional design and is being done in partnership with architectural design firm Arcadis and heritage building preservation experts ERA Architects.
The 14 floors will consist of workspaces, including a rooftop terrace and will feature a host of amenities such as a games room, wellness rooms and a hotel-inspired ground floor lobby bar and lounge area.
iQ Offices is also restoring the building’s famed Grand Banking Hall, complete with a highly decorated plaster ceiling, tavernelle marble wall cladding and an ornate spiral staircase leading to a mezzanine.
“iQ’s reimagination of the full building will mark the next evolution of its iconography and will uphold its identity as the premier destination for professionals to connect, create, and succeed in the modern workspace era,” said Kane Willmott, co-founder and CEO of iQ Offices, in a statement.
