City introduces Invest Mississauga for economic development

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — At the recent Collision Conference, the City of Mississauga launched Invest Mississauga, a new brand for its economic development division, which highlights Mississauga’s position as a global centre of diverse economic activities and its expanding technology sector.

Mississauga’s tech sector comprises more than 940 companies and 44,000 workers, with nearly a third (28 per cent) of the city’s post-secondary educated workforce specializing in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), indicates a release.

The city has the second-largest life sciences cluster in Canada with more than 500 companies that employ 27,000 people.

IDEA Mississauga, an arm of Invest Mississauga, supports the city’s startup community and accelerates inclusive entrepreneurship. Located inside the Square One Shopping Centre, through the IDEA Entrepreneurship Hub, entrepreneurs can come together in a collaborative, creative space. Founders can connect with mentors, partners and have access to talent and programming that will help take their ventures to the next level, adds the release.

Invest Mississauga can provide resources and programming to help companies across all sectors grow and maintain a competitive edge.
