THUNDER BAY, ONT. — TBT Engineering Limited (TBTE), a multi-disciplinary engineering firm in northwestern Ontario, has announced two major expansions as it marks 30 years in business.
TBTE now has five offices located in Thunder Bay, Fort Frances, Kenora, Collingwood and Ottawa. As of this February they have merged with LBE Group Inc. in Kenora and opened a new branch office in Ottawa, a release reads.
The merger with LBE Group Inc. will bring 15 more professionals into the TBTE team, adding to its expertise in structural, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering.
The company states the Ottawa expansion will expand TBTE’s capabilities in environmental and geotechnical engineering while bringing on new expertise in the fields of hydrogeological services and geoenvironmental instrumentation and monitoring.
These moves build on TBTE’s successful acquisition of Profor Engineering in 2015, Sostratus Engineering in 2016 and EXP’s Northwestern Ontario Geomatics Operations in 2017. The expansion into Collingwood in 2023 opened the path forward into the southern Ontario market and the new office just opened in Ottawa demonstrates the firm’s interest in further growth opportunities throughout Ontario, the release adds.
TBTE began as a small materials testing lab with two lab technicians in Thunder Bay in 1995. It has since grown to an employee-owned company with a workforce of 150.
