Inquests announced for two separate construction fatalities

TORONTO — Two separate inquests have been announced for two deaths which occurred at different construction sites in the Greater Toronto Area in 2016.

On Aug. 22, Dr. Bonnie Burke, regional supervising coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, announced an inquest will be held into the death of Gilbert Eid.

Eid, 44, died on October 31, 2016, at a construction site.

Dr. Mara Goldstein will preside as inquest coroner and Catherine Glaister will serve as counsel to the coroner.

Details regarding the date and location will be provided at a later date when the information becomes available.

Dr. Kenneth Peckham, regional supervising coroner for Central Region, Central West Office, also announced Aug. 22 that an inquest will be held into the death of Richard Reid.

Reid, 60, died on August 9, 2016, while working at a construction site in Brampton, Ont.

Details regarding the date and location will be provided at a later date when the information becomes available.

Dr. Mara Goldstein will preside as inquest coroner and Shanna Ferrone will be counsel to the coroner.
