York Police lay seven charges against Bondfield CEO John Aquino

AURORA, ONT.Late last month, York Regional Police laid seven criminal charges against former Bondfield Construction Co. chief executive officer John Aquino.

Aquino, a former Ontario General Contractors Association chair, has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon; break and enter; and four counts of uttering threats.

Aquino was arrested and charged on Sept. 23. He was released with a next court date of Jan. 6, 2021.

It’s the latest setback for Aquino since Bondfield began to experience liquidity issues in 2014 and 2015. The Daily Commercial News previously reported on bankruptcy proceedings involving Bondfield last December in which court-appointed monitor Ernst and Young detailed millions of dollars in alleged fake invoices submitted and paid by Bondfield

John Aquino was replaced as Bondfield’s CEO by his brother Steve Aquino.
