BRAMPTON, ONT. — Andrea Warren is now the acting commissioner of public works for the Region of Peel as recruitment efforts for a permanent replacement are underway.
In the new role, Warren, who has been with the region for 20 years, will join members of Peel’s executive leadership team and will be responsible for overseeing the region’s public works services and lead development services, operations support, planning, transportation, TransHelp, waste management and water and wastewater at the region.
Most recently, Warren was the general manager of Peel Housing Corporation. Previously, she was a member of the Public Works Leadership Team as the director of development services.
Warren is a registered professional planner and project manager. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo and a Masters degree in Environmental Studies (Planning) from York University.
Recruitment efforts for a permanent replacement for the commissioner of public works will begin immediately, states a release, adding in the interim, Janice Sheehy will be filling the role of acting general manager of Peel Housing Corporation, in addition to her role as the commissioner of human services.
“Andrea is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in the public works sector. She has a deep understanding of the needs of the Peel community and is highly capable of ensuring our services remain reliable during this time,” said Janice Baker, chief administrative officer at the Region of Peel, in a statement. “I would also like to thank Andrew Farr, who filled this role since May 2019 and who has accepted a position in the Region of Halton.”
