David Lindsay appointed IO board chair

TORONTO – Ontario Minister of Infrastructure Laurie Scott has announced the appointment of David Lindsay, the founding president of the Ontario SuperBuild Corporation and long-time Ontario public service manager, as chair of the board of Infrastructure Ontario (IO).

The appointment was announced June 18.

Scott said, “The IO board chair plays a critical role, providing direction to the agency’s CEO to implement policy and operational decisions that help deliver vital infrastructure across the province.

“Mr. Lindsay brings a wealth of public policy experience and a proven track record in the leadership of public sector organizations.”

Lindsay has held the position of deputy minister at the ministries of energy and infrastructure, northern development, mines and forestry, natural resources, and tourism and culture. He also served as the principal secretary and chief of staff to the premier of Ontario from 1995 to 1997. Following that role, he was president and CEO of the Ontario Jobs and Investment Board from 1997 to 1999.

He is the former president and CEO of the Council of Ontario Universities, the Forest Products Association of Canada and of Colleges Ontario.

“I am confident that Mr. Lindsay will be integral to ensuring that IO continues to play a key role in the delivery of government infrastructure and infrastructure-related priorities,” said Scott.

Lindsay is no relation to Michael Lindsay, the president and CEO of IO.
