TORONTO — Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow and coun. Shelley Carroll, chair of the city’s budget committee, have announced a set of six public budget consultation sessions as part of a broader budget awareness campaign.
Until Oct. 31, residents are invited to offer input into the city’s 2025 budget through a survey on the 2025 Budget webpage.
The survey is available in 12 languages: English, French, Chinese-simplified, Chinese-traditional, Farsi, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil and Urdu.
In-person consultations will be held Oct. 19, 24, 27 and 28. Online sessions will take place Oct. 23 and 30.
The city is working with Albion Neighbourhood Services and other community partners on consultations, as well as the Toronto Youth Cabinet and the Toronto Aboriginal Support Services Council, which will facilitate community-led consultations with Black, Indigenous and equity-deserving communities and youth city-wide.
The results of the consultations will be presented to the budget committee on Jan. 13 and will accompany the budget committee’s recommendations to the mayor. The proposed budget will be released by Feb. 1.
“The results of this year’s consultations will help us tackle the city’s pressing financial challenges and invest in resident priorities such as transit, housing and community safety. I encourage everyone to get involved and make their voices heard,” stated Chow.
