Daily Commercial News

Montreal-headquartered Genivar has acquired Harmer Podolak Engineering Consultants Inc., a firm of 25 employees specializing in bridge engineering and civil infrastructure.

Montreal-headquartered Genivar has acquired Harmer Podolak Engineering Consultants Inc., a firm of 25 employees specializing in bridge engineering and civil infrastructure.

Harmer Podolak is the largest such bridge specialty office in the National Capital area and eastern Ontario.

“Genivar’s acquisition of Harmer Podolak complements our Ontario transportation team and positions Genivar as a key player in this sector,” said president and CEO Pierre Shoiry.

It is the second acquisition in the past 30 days as Genivar absorbed Toronto-based Kazmar Associates Ltd., a structural engineering firm into its fold.

Marc Rivard, Genivar’s vice-president for Eastern Ontario, said the deal is a “strategic” one in the National Capital Region where Genivar now has a multi-disciplinary team of some 190 employees.

“We plan to continue to enlarge our team in order to participate in numerous transportation projects as well as other market segments in our province.”

Genivar now has over 2,000 employees in Canada and abroad, with more than 400 in Ontario.
