ST JOHN’S, N.L.
Pavex Limited has been awarded a $37.2-million contract to complete improvements to key transportation infrastructure in Labrador.
“Completion of this $37.2 million in road work supports our government’s commitment to advancing transportation infrastructure throughout Newfoundland and Labrador in a timely and cost-effective manner,” said Nick McGrath, Minister of Transportation and Works. “Combining such large projects in one contract creates the opportunity for operational efficiencies and a better overall price. This has proven to be an effective approach that benefits the people of the province.”
Scheduled for completion in 2014, this contract includes paving 60 kilometres between Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Churchill Falls, asphalt repairs on Hamilton River Road and widening and paving of three kilometres at the Trans Labrador Highway/Happy Valley-Goose Bay intersection.
The contract also includes paving 80 kilometres between Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Cartwright Junction, which will be completed in 2015.
