Menkes golf fundraiser supports three GTA health care centres

TORONTO — Menkes Developments Ltd. recently announced it raised $160,000 to benefit three Toronto-area health care corporations at its recent charity golf tournament held at Lionhead Golf Club in Brampton, Ont.

The three beneficiaries of the fundraiser are West Park Healthcare Centre, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and Kensington Health. The tournament attracted 260 golfers.

The funds raised this year increased Menkes’ cumulative fundraising efforts from its Charity Golf Classic to over $1.46 million since its inception 20 years ago, said a release.

“Menkes is more than just a city builder. For decades, we have proudly supported a wide range of health initiatives in the communities in which we operate our business,” said Steven Menkes, Menkes president, low rise division, in the statement. “These particular organizations were selected based on the fact that they provide life-changing care to help patients facing debilitating health challenges reclaim their lives. This is particularly meaningful to Menkes since the golf tournament was established in honour of a former Menkes employee.”

The company’s latest project Sugar Wharf is a proposed waterfront community on an 11.5-acre site in downtown Toronto. Past projects include the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences in Bloor-Yorkville and the two-million-square-foot Harbour Plaza complex.
