Hamilton launches Southcote Road project

HAMILTON, ONT. — The City of Hamilton has announced it will close both directions of Southcote Road in west Hamilton between the 403 overpass and Calder Street for three months in order to begin the first phase of the Southcote Road reconstruction project.

The first phase of the project is expected to wrap up by mid-April, weather permitting, stated a recent release.

Following completion of the first phase, the next phase of work will proceed in April between Calder Street and Garner Road West for approximately seven months, wrapping up in November 2023. The scope of work includes road widening and reconstruction, storm sewer replacement and installation, watermain reconstruction and installation, and a multi-use path and sidewalk installation.

The project also includes road resurfacing and associated works and the addition of three pedestrian crossings.

During this time, intermittent closures will take place as the city progresses southerly towards Garner Road West.
