MONTREAL — Bitume Quebec, representing stakeholders in the bitumen and road construction and maintenance industry in the province, has elected Serge Lefebvre as its new president for a two-year term.
Lefebvre succeeds Tytus Zurawski, who served as chairman for two years, stated a release.
Major issues identified for the board of directors to address include asset maintenance, the Programme d’aide à la voirie locale, the Taxe sur l’essence et de la contribution du Quebec program, and major infrastructure projects.
Bitume Québec is also calling for earlier publication of calls for tenders.
“This is the only way to ensure the quality of our work, which is then carried out under optimum conditions,” stated Lefebvre in a statement.
The association met at the Manoir Saint-Sauveur in the Laurentians. The proceedings included a Tribute Award to Professor Emeritus Daniel Perraton of ETS’s Department of Construction Engineering. Perraton was cited for his “technological advances resulting from his multiple research projects on asphalt mix inputs, work that has set an international benchmark, making him a world authority in the field.”
