TORONTO — The City of Toronto has officially opened Bathurst Quay Common, a new waterfront park.
The 4,000-square-metre project is located on the Canada Malting property at the western gateway to Toronto harbour at 1 Eireann Quay, stated a release. The space features a multi-purpose plaza that can accommodate special events and cultural programming, the restored malting silos and architectural accent lighting to illuminate the Canada Malting silos during the evening.
Next year, a new arts and cultural centre operated by the non-profit Canada Ireland Foundation will open at the park. The Corleck Building will function as a four-season waterfront hub for community, artistic and cultural programming in a restored heritage building.
The OCAD University is also developing programming for the interior of the restored malting silos as an exhibition space.
