NAPANEE, ONT. — Infrastructure Ontario, on behalf of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, has issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for contractors to deliver the Quinte Detention Centre Expansion Project.
The detention centre, located in Greater Napanee, is being expanded to add 66 new beds, bringing its capacity to over 300 beds.
The project will also include expansion of spaces for reception and visitation, executive administration, the institutional crisis intervention team, staff facilities, admitting and discharge, and health services and infirmary. There will also be new public and staff entrances and recreational service areas built, increased female capacity and new parking for staff and visitors.
Partners that make the shortlist for the project will be invited to respond to a request for proposals, which is expected to be released in the summer of 2025. Interested companies must register with merx.com to download the RFQ.
The project is being delivered using a design-bid-build model. The architect and engineers of record, under contract to Infrastructure Ontario, are completing the design documents.
