TORONTO — Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario (CDCO) president Mike Yorke has announced his retirement from Local 27, relinquishing his position as president of the Local 27 Executive Board.
In the Dec. 14 announcement, Yorke indicated he will continue with the CDCO as the director of public affairs and innovation.
Pursuant to the Local 27 constitution, vice-president Paul Daly assumed the role of president until next summer, when members will vote on a new executive board.
A Facebook post stated, “Local 27 would like to thank Mike for all of his years of dedicated hard work and leadership. Local 27 truly would not be what it is without his longstanding commitment to bettering the lives of our brothers and sisters.”
Another social media post noted that Chris Campbell had stepped down from the board as conductor, followed by an interim appointment to the position of vice-president of Local 27 until the next scheduled election in the summer 2022.
Yorke remains president of the CDCO.
