BREAKING: Roofers vote 51 per cent to ratify ICI deal, sheet metal also ratifies

Roofers and sheet metal workers in Ontario’s ICI sector have ratified three-year deals with the roofers opting in by a razor-thin margin.

The ratification votes for both collective agreements were tabulated yesterday (June 14) by the Sheet Metal Workers’ Negotiation Team, representing both trades. The roofers voted 51 per cent to accept their deal while over 70 per cent of the sheet metal workers supported ratification.

Only the new wages for the sheet metal workers are known at this time.

Their pay will rise $8.15 per hour over three years for most of the province, with Toronto, Barrie and Peterborough to get a three-year hike of $9.50 per hour. The workers would also get raises in travel and room and board allowances.

Three-year deals across the ICI sector in Ontario expired April 30. The increases on the sheet metal wage package are retroactive to May 15 while the roofers will get retroactive raises to May 1.

Further information and comments will be released as details become available.
