Heavy equipment safety training targets miners in Yukon

Journal Of Commerce

High Velocity Equipment Training is conducting a “train the trainer” instructor certification program for heavy equipment safety instructors in Camrose, Alta.

The course, which wraps up Friday, is designed to help service providers, governments and schools deliver safety training to mining companies in the Yukon Territory.

The training partners include the Yukon Mine Training Association and the Northern Safety Network Yukon, which is training native Canadian workers to become heavy equipment instructors.

“Our focus is to develop capacity in the communities and support livelihood-development in a competitive market,” NSNY executive director Sheila Sergy stated in a High Velocity Equipment Training press release. “We are committed to developing more training opportunities such as the 12-week heavy equipment program supplied by High Velocity Equipment Training."

More information is available at High Velocity’s Web site.
