Ontario coroner’s inquest schedule into residential construction workplace death

An inquest will be held into the death of Leonardo Pitruzzella, 49, who died on July 13, 2009 at a Vaughan area construction site.

BRAMPTON, Ont.

An inquest will be held into the death of Leonardo Pitruzzella, 49, who died on July 13, 2009 at a Vaughan area construction site.

Pitruzzella was fatally injured when he was struck by a dump truck that was operating in reverse at a residential project.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Pitruzzella’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest is expected to last two days and to hear from six witnesses.

The inquest will start on June 23, at the Aurora Municipal Offices, 1 Municipal Drive. Dr. Mary Beth Bourne will preside as inquest coroner and Martin Dionne will be counsel to the coroner.
