TORONTO

Dawn Tattle, president of Anchor Shoring & Caissons, has been appointed as an employer member to Ontario’s Prevention Council.

The 11-member council, one of the recommendations in the Tony Dean Expert Advisory Panel Report, was founded in 2012 and provides advice to Chief Prevention Officer George Gritziotis and the Minister of Labour on health and safety issues as they affect workers.

Tattle has been president of Anchor Shoring & Caissons since 1997, is a civil engineer and has been named one of Canada’s “100 Most Powerful Women” both in 2008 and 2010.

Prior to her appointment to Prevention Council, Tattle provided feedback to the Ministry of Labour as a contributing employer member of the Vulnerable Workers Task Group, an advisory body focused on providing insight and advice on the unique health and safety needs of vulnerable workers in Ontario.

“We are fortunate to have someone of Dawn Tattle’s calibre serving as a member of the Prevention Council. She brings a wealth of experience with her, including an intimate knowledge of the challenges facing vulnerable workers acquired as a member of our Vulnerable Workers Task Group,” said Gritziotis in a statement.

The Prevention Council looks at the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses, the development of the provincial occupational health and safety strategy, and any significant proposed changes to funding and delivery of services under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
