Inquests announced in construction site deaths

HAMILTON, ONT. — Dr. Karen Schiff, regional supervising coroner for Ontario’s West Region in the Hamilton Office, has announced that an inquest will be held into the deaths of two workers at construction sites who died three and two years ago respectively.

Jeremy Huber, 39, died on Sept. 4, 2015, and Eugene Llewellyn, 54, died on July 15, 2016.

Both died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained while working at separate construction sites, said a release from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding their deaths. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

Details regarding the date and location will be provided at a later date when the information becomes available.
