Worker dies from fall at Ajax jobsite

AJAX, ONT. — A construction worker has died from injuries suffered from a fall through an opening in a roof at an Ajax, Ont. jobsite.

The Ministry of Labour reported the worker was employed by KPL Construction Incorporated and the constructor is Maple Reinders Construction Incorporated. The worker was said to be installing a roof deck at the premises of Gordan Food Services on Salem Road in Ajax before 11:30 a.m. on March 7. Other reports said the worker was airlifted by Ornge air ambulance.

Ministry inspectors investigated the incident and have issued requirements to the constructor, Maple Reinders, for documentation, to not disturb the scene, and for the collection of equipment. The investigation was continuing on March 8, the ministry said.
