WSIB unveils new online services

TORONTO — Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has released an update on recent enhancements to its online services.

A recent release noted that people with workplace injuries and illnesses are now able to access their claims information online, by signing in to the WSIB site to view their claim status, latest payments and approved benefits. They can also upload documents directly to their file and send secure messages, reducing the need to phone.

The new service is linked to recent digital innovations for businesses including uploading claim-related documents online, an easier to use login for businesses, simpler clearances, and online registration for the new Health and Safety Excellence program which helps businesses design or improve their own health and safety programs.

The WSIB also has a new Safety Check feature, enabling users to check out how safe a business is and compare health and safety results of similar businesses.

Features include the number and types of injuries in any workplace, access to numbers indicating how many people are still receiving benefits a year after an accident, and determining if a business has joined the Health and Safety Excellence program.

There is also information about how the WSIB makes decisions about COVID-19 claims and COVID-related claims statistics.
