TORONTO – Toronto police are reporting a man has died following a scaffolding deck collapse at a construction site in the city.
Emergency crews attended the scene located at Widmer and Adelaide streets just after 11 a.m. this morning (Dec. 14).
According to reports, the victim didn’t have vital signs when emergency crews arrived and paramedics performed CPR. Police first reported the man was injured on Twitter and a short time later, said he was pronounced dead.
The reported employer/constructor is Limen located in Toronto. The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) was notified of a reported fatality, a ministry spokesperson told the Daily Commercial News, adding it was reported that a worker fell from the scaffolding. Two MLTSD inspectors are at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
This is the second collapse at a construction site in the last few days, with a partial building collapse at an apartment project claiming the lives of two workers and injuring four others in London, Ont. on Dec. 11.
