UPDATE: Worker dies after being struck by dump truck at waste management facility

TORONTOA man who was reportedly struck by a dump truck at Millwick Triple Waste Management in North York, Ont. has died in hospital. 

The incident occurred this morning (Jan. 19) around 8:15 a.m. at Milvan and Millwick Drives near Islington Avenue and Steeles Avenue West. According to media reports, a man in his 50s suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital in critical condition. The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) was notified of the incident. 

“EMS attended the scene and transported worker to the hospital where it was reported that the worker passed away,” stated a spokesperson in email from the MLTSD. “The scene of incident is held. MLTSD inspectors have been assigned and the investigation is ongoing.”    

The company has a transfer station that accepts residential, commercial and industrial solid non-hazardous mixed waste and construction debris, according to its website.
