TORONTO — Metrolinx has announced the next stage in the implementation of its employee vaccination policy.
It was announced in August that all Metrolinx staff, contractors and visitors to its worksites would need to be vaccinated, indicated a statement from Metrolinx chief spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins. Staff were required to submit their vaccination status and documentation and as of Sept. 21, 92 per cent of approximately 4,600 Metrolinx staff have submitted their vaccination status.
Of the 92 per cent of the staff who responded by the deadline, 90 per cent of them are fully vaccinated, six per cent are partially vaccinated, and four per cent are unvaccinated.
Aikins said there would be no extension of the deadline, as the TTC and the City of Toronto did.
The mandatory vaccination policy is effective Nov. 1 with only staff with medical exemptions excepted. Staff who do not comply with the policy will be put on unpaid leave.
