TORONTO – A man sustained serious injuries after falling concrete from a construction project reportedly fell on his vehicle in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood yesterday (Jan. 4).
Police were called to the scene at Yonge and Cumberland streets at about 4:30 p.m.
According to the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD), a form failed allowing wet concrete to escape and fall to the street below striking two vehicles. The constructor for the project is Tucker High-Rise Construction Inc.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries, Toronto Police Operations tweeted just before 6 p.m. Jan. 4.
An MLTSD inspector attended the scene. One requirement was issued to the constructor. The investigation is ongoing.
