AJAX, ONT. – An explosion at an Ajax, Ont. manufacturing facility Feb. 18 has left two workers dead.
The explosion occurred at FixtureThis, located at MacKenzie Avenue in Ajax. The employer is a marketing and manufacturing company that specializes in the design and manufacture of permanent P.O.P. displays, trade show exhibits and retail environments.
The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) received notification of the incident Feb. 18.
“It was reported that an explosion occurred in the workplace that sadly resulted in two workers sustaining fatal injuries,” a spokesperson for the MLTSD wrote in an email to the Daily Commercial News.
MLTSD inspectors attended the scene. Two requirements have been issued. MLTSD’s investigation is ongoing.
