@LISHTOTHEMOON TWITTER — Crews are currently battling a massive fire that broke out at a residential subdivision under construction in Vaughan, Ont.

VAUGHAN, ONT. — A fire has broken out at a residential subdivision under construction in Vaughan, Ont.

Emergency crews received the call today (April 12) at 1 p.m. The incident occurred in the area of Pine Valley Drive and Teston Road.

“We’re currently on location for a subdivision involving homes that were under construction,” reported City of Vaughan Deputy Fire Chief Grant Moffatt. “We’ve got multiple homes all lost. We’ve got currently on scene 13 trucks, four chief officers and we have no reported injuries at this time.

“It will be several more hours before we have the fire out,” he said around 2 p.m. “I can say probably within the hour we will have it under control.”

The incident is currently under investigation and the cause of the fire has not been determined. It is believed workers were on the site but that has also not been confirmed, Moffatt told the Daily Commercial News.

The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development has not been notified yet but they will be, Moffatt said.

Road closures in the area include Pine Valley Drive at Ballantyne Boulevard, Teston Road at Ballantyne Boulevard and Teston Road at Arbordale Drive.

The Daily Commercial News will have more on the story.
