The incident occurred on a site at Spadina and Lonsdale roads just after 6 a.m.

According to an email from the Toronto Police Service, the call came in around 6:09 a.m. with reports that a man was walking along the sidewalk close to a construction site and the mud along the site collapsed and the man fell in the hole.
