Inquests announced into deaths of workers who fell from collapsed elevated platform

TORONTO — A date has been announced for a joint inquest into the deaths of Luigi Cudini and Shane Jennings.

Cudini, 54, and Jennings, 37, died on March 27, 2015 from injuries sustained due to fall from a collapsed elevated platform at a construction site in Toronto.

The inquest into their deaths, which is mandatory under the Coroners Act, was announced by Dr. Richard Wells, regional supervising coroner for central region for the Toronto West Office. It will examine the circumstances surrounding these deaths. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

Expected to last six days and hear from 10 witnesses, the inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26.

The inquest will be conducted by video conference. Members of the public who wish to view the proceedings can do so live.
