Construction worker injured at Montreal Olympic Stadium

Construction worker injured at Montreal Olympic Stadium

MONTREAL — Quebec’s workplace safety commission has confirmed that a man who was injured at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium on Monday was engaged in construction work.

The worker was reported to have fallen about 30 feet in the ventilation system during the noon hour. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Montreal police referred questions to the workplace commission, the CNESST.

A CNESST spokesperson said its investigation is continuing and it has prohibited work at the worksite where the incident occurred.

The Olympic Parc sports centre including the Olympic pool was hit by a fire in March with officials recently announcing the facilities would be closed until at least this summer. A release said cleanup operations included the ventilation system.
