Roadworker struck and injured on Don Valley Parkway

Roadworker struck and injured on Don Valley Parkway

TORONTO – A construction worker was struck while doing roadwork this morning and the Toronto Police Service (TPS) is requesting the public’s assistance with the investigation.

The incident occurred this at 1:11 a.m. (April 9) northbound on the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto. The 46-year-old male victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police responded to a call for a collision in the Don Valley Parkway near Spanbridge Road overpass area. It was reported the northbound curb and middle lane were closed for overnight construction and marked accordingly.

A motor vehicle described as possibly a “light coloured” SUV was travelling northbound and entered the construction zone.  The motor vehicle did not stop and fled the scene northbound on the Don Valley Parkway. The driver and vehicle are outstanding and the vehicle likely has front end damage, police reported.

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services and Ministry of Labour. Police are seeking any dash camera footage of the incident or information to contact investigators.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1900, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or at www.222tips.com.

This is just happening to often sadly. Need to slow traffic down to a crawl in construction zones. See way to many drivers speeding and totally unaware of the havoc they are about to create. Slow down. Wake up. Show some respect.
