MISSISSAUGA, ONT. —A dump truck struck a pedestrian bridge under construction on the QEW in Mississauga, Ont. this morning (June 11).
The truck collided with the bridge overpass near North Service Road at 7:55 a.m. Following the incident the QEW was closed in both directions between Cawthra and Dixie for an investigation, the OPP reported on X.
Reports indicate the incident caused substantial damage to the bridge. The highway will remain closed until the bridge can be stabilized. Cranes were on scene and drivers were advised to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
Peel Police is now investigating the collision.
