WINDSOR, ONT. — The Gordie Howe International Bridge project’s health and safety team has been selected as silver winners for the OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) Team of the Year, by OHS Canada Honours.
The award was presented Sept. 26. The team’s Safety Management Plan includes mandatory orientation sessions, foreman lunch and learns, mock drills, interdisciplinary reviews on safety procedures, safety mentoring, weekly recognition programs and celebrations of National Health and Safety Week, stated a release.
“The project team’s strong emphasis on health and safety is the reason we’ve been able to celebrate recent accomplishments such as the bridge deck connection,” stated David Henderson, CEO of Bridging North America, in a statement. “I’m proud to see the project’s health and safety team continue to receive recognition for their work.”
