Workers install glass at the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto in the Thorncliffe Park area in the former borough of East York. Eastern Construction began the work in summer 2010. Designed by Shim Sutcliffe Architects, the building includes a new four-storey building with 65 residential suites, 30 assisted living units, 35 private hospital units and three guest suites.
The existing heritage building on site will be restored and have ground floor multi-purpose rooms. Completion has been scheduled for fall 2012 and the project was designed by Shim Sutcliffe Architects.
Consultants are Blackwell Bowick Engineering (structural) and Crossey Engineering Ltd. (mechanical/electrical).
Subtrades include: Groundworks Construction (excavation); Darlington Steel (structural steel); Harris Rebar; Structform International Ltd. (formwork); Dufferin Concrete; Limen Masonry; Colonial Building Restoration (heritage building restoration); Select Drywall; Dolvin Mechanical; Ampere Ltd. (electrical); Vipond Fire Protection Ltd.; Roschmann Group (windows); AquaNorth (waterproofing); Bothwell-Accurate Co. Ltd. (metal cladding); Flynn Canada Ltd. (roofing) and Otis Canada Inc. (elevators).
