The City Council of Thunder Bay, Ontario has approved a budget that calls for $7 million in expenditures on two new fire stations and renovations to four existing fire stations for shared facilities with emergency medical services (EMS). Other infrastructure investments planned in the tax and rate-supported budgets for 2012 include $6.5 million for watermain replacement and rehabilitation.
The City Council of Thunder Bay, Ontario approved Thursday a budget that calls for $7 million in expenditures on fire and ambulance station construction.
The budget also includes an Enhanced Infrastructure Renewal Program (EIRP) of $4.5 million.
The 2012 tax-supported budget provides for two new fire stations and renovations to four existing fire stations for shared facilities with emergency medical services (EMS).
Other infrastructure investments planned in the tax and rate-supported budgets for 2012 include:
•a four-lane upgrade to Junot/Golf Links Road, at a cost of $6.3 million;
•road rehabilitation and pavement improvements for $6.7 million;
•watermain replacement and rehabilitation for $6.5 million;
•sanitary sewer rehabilitation for $2.4 million; and
• bridge rehabilitation for $1.6 million.
