Construction is taking shape for the Hamilton Soccer Stadium being built on the site of the former Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ont.

The stadium will host the 2015 Pan Am Games and will be the home of the Hamilton Tiger Cats. General Contractors for the multi-million dollar state-of-the-art facility is the joint venture of Kenaidan Contracting Ltd. and Bouygues Building Canada. The new facility will provide 22,500 fixed seats in two tiers on both sides of the field, and with temporary seats on sidelines and end zones the stadium’s capacity will grow to nearly 40,000 for major events. Other features include 30 suites, six elevators, bigger seat sizes, updated press and broadcasting facilities, and concession stands on all levels. The owner is the City of Hamilton and completion has been scheduled for the summer of 2014.

The project was designed by Cannon Design, who are the Prime Consultant, with sub-consultants being Arup Canada Inc. and Morrison Hershfield Limited.

Subcontractors include: Ragno Excavating Limited (excavation & site services); Budget Environmental Disposal Inc. (demolition); Walter’s Inc. (structural steel); Reimar Construction Corporation (formwork); St. Mary’s Cement Inc. (concrete supply); Armtec Limited Partnership (pre-cast concrete) and Albrecht Reinforcing Inc. (rebar).
