Construction is moving along at York University for the New Engineering Building at its Keele campus in Toronto, Ont.
The construction manager for the project is Laing O’Rourke in partnership with The Gillam Group and completion is scheduled for September 2015. The owner is York University and the principal user will be the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University’s new faculty of engineering. The building will have innovation laboratories equipped with the latest technology and flexible learning clusters that will resemble design studios. The construction under this contract is inclusive of all relevant services such as mechanical and electrical and will see the project through to the completion of all hard and soft landscaping.
The building was designed by ZAS Architects and assisted principally by ARUP and Scott Torrance. Subtrades include: American Construction and Excavation; Keller Foundations; Anchor Shoring and Caissons Ltd.; Hardrock Forming; Geo. A Kelson (mechanical); Symtech Innovations and Otis Elevator.
