Highway 407 to enter its final build phase

TORONTO—The Highway 407 East project is expected to enter its final phase later this fall and be completed by December 2017.

The two-year project will start from Harmony Road to Taunton Road and Highway 418 and go further into development, connecting several highways and providing eight new interchanges.

"The Highway 407 expansion project is a great example of the unprecedented infrastructure investments our government is making across the province," said Brad Duguid, Ontario’s economic development, employment and infrastructure minister. "This significant investment will foster greater connectivity amongst businesses, generate economic activity in the local community, and provide Ontario families and businesses with a more efficient transportation network."

The final phase of Highway 407 East will include:

— An extension going east from Harmony Road in Oshawa to Highway 35 and 115.

— A north-south 10-kilometre link of Highway 418 and east of Oshawa connect Highway 407 to Highway 401.

— Eight new interchanges and three freeway to freeway connections.
