VALCARTIER, QUE.—Construction of a new $65 million indoor waterpark and four-star hotel complex has been announced by Valcartier Vacation Village, the first of its kind in Quebec.
The indoor waterpark will cover more than 102,000 square feet and feature a Polynesian theme. The park will have attractions created both for children and the more adventurous, a release states, with a wave pool, more than 14 waterslides (including five standing at 15.25 metres or 50 feet tall), a family pool, a multi-activity adventure river and a double surf wave. Private cabanas and relaxation areas will also be included in the park.
The five-storey, 194,000-square-foot Valcartier Vacation Village four-star hotel will be made up of 153 suites, the release reads.
"We decided to offer suites in order to provide our visitors with optimal comfort. Families will be happy to learn that these suites were specially designed to meet their needs. They include a large living room attached to closed bedrooms and ergonomic bathrooms that can be used by more than one guest at a time. We’ve covered all bases to provide our guests with an unforgettable experience," stated Guy Drouin, president and general manager of Valcartier Vacation Village in a statement.
There will also be five form rooms that can accommodate 12 people.
"The hotel’s mezzanine will be home to a huge indoor entertainment room with an arcade featuring multiple games and private rooms for children’s birthday parties and other group activities," the release continues.
On the first floor of the hotel there will be a spa with various baths, indoor and outdoor pools, a gift shop, and a lounge-style sports bar and restaurant to round out this space.
Construction will be funded from a private investment, the release states, and the complex is scheduled to open in December 2016.
