TORONTO—Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx have issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the design, build and financing of the Cooksville GO Station project.
The RFQ outlines the scope of work required at the station, located along the Milton Corridor in the City of Mississauga, Ont. to accommodate the planned expansion of GO Transit rail services, a media statement released Sept. 14 indicates.
The scope of work includes:
• A new station building with a large public plaza;
upgrades to existing rail platform access tunnels;
• a new six-storey parking structure with pedestrian connection to the rail platform and redevelopment of existing and new surface parking areas; and
• a bus loop with a minimum of eight bus bays for GO and MiWay bus service.
The RFQ is the first step in the procurement process to select a team to deliver the project.
IO and Metrolinx will evaluate submissions to prequalify project teams with the relevant design and construction experience. Teams that qualify will be invited to respond to a request for proposals early in 2017.
Work on the Cooksville GO Station project is part of a system-wide plan to improve overall GO Transit service, including the delivery of GO Regional Express Rail by 2024-25, the IO statement said.
The project will be delivered using IO’s Alternative Financing and Procurement model.
