EllisDon is expanding the railway bridge at Dufferin and Queen Streets on Toronto’s west side to accommodate the additional track needed for the Barrie corridor as part of the GO Regional Express Rail (RER) program.

The work, funded by Ontario’s transportation ministry, has an award value of more than $8.4 million plus contingency and taxes. It began Aug. 12 and will take approximately one year to complete. In addition, Metrolinx is partnering with the City of Toronto to extend the West Toronto Railpath multi-use trail to the West Queen West community. This extension will run along the existing rail corridor, connecting cyclists and pedestrians from Dupont Street to just east of Dufferin Street. These community investments add to the recently announced new GO Train stations including the proposed Liberty Village and Bloor-Davenport stations. This work will enable the building of a new city park (Dufferin-Peel Park). The future park will be a hub for West Toronto Railpath users, including cyclists and will include cycling amenities, landscaping, seating and terraces.
