TORONTO — Graduate students from the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism at Carleton University are joining the DIALOG Toronto Studio to explore concepts for the Rail Deck Park — a project currently being investigated by the City of Toronto for potential implementation in the city’s downtown core.
The city has invested $2 million to form a task force to explore the feasibility of the Rail Deck Park and DIALOG is fully funding the Carleton Studio to support the initiative.
Students will be guided by DIALOG mentors in its architecture, mechanical, electrical and structural engineering, sustainability, urban planning, landscape architecture and interior design disciplines, states a release issued by DIALOG.
The firm has designed the entire curriculum for a six-week term. In addition to integrated weekly desk-crits (project critiques) and pin-ups, industry experts will share their experiences with the students who will benefit from the guidance and support of professionals who are deeply invested in the outcomes for the Rail Deck Park, adds the release.
Students will receive critical input from the City of Toronto’s planning department; tackle urban challenges with major developer stakeholders; and collaborate with the many city-builders who will be participating.
