Phase two of Magellan Condos project launches

BROSSARD, QUE. — Quebec developer Devimco Immobilier has announced that 95 per cent of the units in phase one of its Magellan Condos project in Brossard, Que. were sold within a month, with the result that the firm has decided to move up the launch of phase two to early 2018.

The Magellan project is located on the site of Quebec’s largest current mixed-use real estate development project, Solar Uniquartier, a Nov. 21 statement said. The developer is partnering with Fonds immobilier de solidarite FTQ and Fondaction for the project.

Phase two will offer 200-plus units over 15 storeys. The project is being designed around the future Reseau electrique metropolitain (REM) transit system. Magellan Condos will be the first residential development connected to the REM (the Du Quartier station) by an indoor tunnel, the statement indicated.

“The concept is beyond innovative. Residents can get downtown in 10 minutes and even go to the airport without ever having to step outside. We wanted to offer buyers an integrated lifestyle oriented around smart transit,” announced Devimco Immobilier president Serge Goulet in the statement.

Solar Uniquartier, to be built on Boulevard du Quartier in Brossard, will include 2,600 residential units, a 12,000-square-metre central green space, 1.2-million square feet of commercial and office space and a hotel, conference centre, and multi-use complex in addition to a public events space with capacity for 5,000 spectators.
